Elastic properties assessment in the multiferroic BiFeO3 by pump and probe method

We have performed elasticity measurements in the bulk multiferroic BiFeO3 (BFO) using acoustical pump and probe spectroscopy. The sound velocities of (quasi)-longitudinal two (quasi)-transverse acoustic waves along three independent directions (110) surface been measured. Moreover, one wave longitudinal propagating perpendicular to detected. Based on initial input values six Cij elastic constants determined by our density functional theory calculations eleven experimental velocities, numerical resolution equations allows determine all BFO. propagation direction dependence volume phase unambiguously assignment waves, hence polarization phonons.
